Fertility

I have seen first hand Chinese medical treatment improve a couple's chances of conception. This clinical experience has prompted me to focus my doctoral research on fertility enhancement. In conjunction with the Fertility Physicians of Northern California, I am researching acupuncture treatments that previous research has shown can double conception rates when used in conjunction with in vitro fertilization techniques (IVF).

Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is an epidemic, both in Santa Cruz County and across the country. It is a pernicious illness with a variety of potential symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, digestive difficulties, impaired memory, headaches, depression, and immune system dysfunction. Asian medicine can reduce the symptoms of hepatitis C. Dr. Rozenn has experience treating people at different stages of liver disease caused by hepatitis C. She is a faculty member at Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine where she teaches students to assess and treat both hepatitis C symptoms and antiviral drug side effects. Dr. Rozenn is actively involved with community prevention and education efforts. She is a member of the Santa Cruz County Hepatitis C Task Force and is on the advisory board of local non-profit Help & Education for Liver Patients. She also works with support groups, patient advocates, local doctors and specialists in San Francisco to bring patients an integrated model of care.

Blood Sugar Regulation

Asian medicine has a long history of improving blood sugar metabolism. In 752 C.E. Chinese doctor Wang Tao asserted that pancreatic dysfunction is the cause of diabetes. Today, over 20 acupuncture points have been shown to lower blood sugar levels. Participants in studies of these points have often experienced reduced cholesterol and triglycerides as a result of treatment. Dr. Rozenn enjoys helping people achieve greater blood sugar stability. Her patients also experience relief from the symptoms associated with faulty sugar metabolism such as muscle and joint pain, sugar cravings, generalized inflammation, mood swings, sinusitis, allergies and neuropathy.

Immune Enhancement

Those with a weakened immune system are more susceptible to colds, allergies, frequent ear and sinus infections, and chronically swollen lymph glands. There are a number of factors that contribute to this process such as: chronic disease, shock and trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, chemotherapy and radiation, and immune suppressant drugs. Dr. Rozenn is skilled at getting to the root of immune system imbalances. Her personalized treatments both strengthen immunity and resolve the symptoms associated with an imbalanced immune system.

Hormone Regulation

Dr. Rozenn treats endocrine system imbalances through a multi level approach including specific acupuncture treatments and laboratory analysis. Endometriosis, infertility and PMS are conditions she treats on a daily basis. She also has a great deal of experience regulating women’s hormonal cycles and reducing symptoms such as mood swings, irregular and painful periods, depression, anxiety and sleeplessness. Her patients report relief from perimenopausal symptoms such as night sweats, insomnia and hot flashes. In addition, Dr. Rozenn has obtained excellent results regulating thyroid hormones and rebuilding the adrenals.

Kids

In addition to treating common childhood illnesses such as recurrent colds and chronic ear and sinus infections, Dr. Rozenn also has experience treating children with neurological conditions including frequent seizures, delayed development and cerebral palsy. Depending on the child’s age, she may do acupuncture with very small pediatric needles, or she may perform Chinese therapeutic massage (tui-na). Dr. Rozenn teaches the gentle and effective tui-na massage techniques to parents so they can pursue effective treatment at home.
